One of West Palm Beach’s longtime Publix stores could soon be getting a major makeover.
The Publix at Southdale Shopping Center, 828 Southern Boulevard, may close for several months for renovations. Store employees have been telling customers the closure could happen as soon as September, although Publix has not officially confirmed a date.
The Southdale Publix has been a neighborhood fixture since 1959 and was one of the first five Publix stores to open in Palm Beach County.
A temporary closure would leave SoSo residents looking to nearby options, including Publix on Belvedere Road and Trader Joe’s farther south.
For now, Publix has not confirmed when the Southern Boulevard store will close or how long renovations could take.
