West Palm Beach is hitting the pause button on its proposed Downtown Master Plan update.
Mayor Keith James announced the city will delay committee reviews while launching a new resident partnership initiative aimed at giving the community a larger voice in the planning process.
Here’s what it means:
- The Downtown Master Plan update is on hold while the city gathers more public feedback.
- Residents will work directly with city staff and planning consultants to review proposals, ask questions, and provide input.
- The pause comes after growing concerns over building heights, traffic, infrastructure, and future development.
- The city plans to hold additional community meetings and begin the new engagement process later this fall.
City leaders say the goal is to make sure future decisions about downtown growth are shaped through a more transparent and collaborative process before any changes move forward.
