Phipps Ocean Park Is Getting a Major Makeover!

Big changes are ahead for Phipps Ocean Park in Palm Beach. Starting May 1, 2025, the park will close for a $31 million redesign led by the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, with support from the Town of Palm Beach. The project will breathe new life into this historic oceanfront space while honoring the park’s original 1948 vision.

The renovation will restore native landscapes and add exciting new features, including:

  • A Coastal Restoration Center for educational programming
  • Great lawn and various gardens
  • Playgrounds that foster social interaction and creative play
  • Native ecosystem restoration to support a more resilient coastline
  • New facilities, including new beach pavilions, lifeguard towers, bathroom facilities, and educational walking paths
  • A renovation of the tennis center, plus two new pickleball courts
  • Relocation of the historic Little Red Schoolhouse to higher ground to protect it from flooding

Important dates to know:

  • Park closure: May 1, 2025 – October 1, 2026
  • Tennis center and parking reopening: November 1, 2025

During construction, public parking and beach access at the park will not be available. However, Midtown Beach will stay open, with parking along South Ocean Avenue and nearby streets. Also, while the tennis center is closed, players are encouraged to play at Seaview Park Tennis Center along Royal Palm Way.

Once complete, Phipps Ocean Park will offer even more ways to relax, explore, learn, and enjoy the natural beauty of Palm Beach. For updates, visit the Town of Palm Beach Recreation Department website or call 561-838-5404.
