The City of West Palm Beach hosted a ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Phipps Park skatepark and pickleball courts on March 25, 2025. The $800,000 project, funded by the 2020 Parks Bond and general funds, brought major upgrades, including new ramps at the skatepark, epoxy flooring, fresh paint, fencing, and shade structures, as well as four new pickleball courts. The community center roof was also repaired as part of the renovation.
Before Howard Park’s ribbon cutting earlier this year, the City of West Palm Beach did not have any public pickleball courts within city limits. Now, with the conversion of the former hockey rink into four pickleball courts (with temporary nets), there are now two parks with pickleball courts within city limits. The pickleball courts are open Tuesday through Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm, and Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. They are closed on Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as the space is shared with soccer (so, if you are looking to play, head to Howard Park during those times). The cost to play is $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents, with annual passes available. Clinics and lessons are also offered for players looking to improve their game.
Whether you’re into skating or pickleball, Phipps Park is now the perfect spot to enjoy some outdoor fun!
