Saks Fifth Avenue Closes Palm Beach Store: What’s Next for Worth Avenue Space?

Saks Fifth Avenue is set to close its iconic Palm Beach store on Worth Avenue after nearly 100 years in the area. Here’s a look at what this shift means for the retailer and the future of the space:

  • Saks’ Long History in Palm Beach: Saks has been a staple in Palm Beach since 1926, surviving numerous economic cycles and solidifying its luxury reputation on Worth Avenue.
  • The Future of the Space: The building, located at 150 Worth Ave., could potentially be transformed into a private membership club or a combination of restaurant and boutique spaces. A rooftop venue might also be added, though these plans are still unclear.
  • Personal Shopping at the White Elephant: While Saks will no longer have a physical store on Worth Avenue, it will continue serving its Palm Beach clientele through a personal shopping service in partnership with the White Elephant boutique hotel on the island. The service will offer exclusive, by-appointment styling and shopping, starting this fall.
  • Adapting to New Shopping Habits: Saks has been shifting towards appointment-only personal shopping services, which are already in place at several other locations like San Francisco and Napa, reflecting broader changes in consumer behavior.

While Saks exits its long-time Palm Beach location, the brand seems to be committed to remain in the community with new, personalized shopping experiences.
