Rodney Mayo’s Subculture Group — the force behind some of West Palm Beach’s most beloved restaurants, bars, and coffee spots — has a few big changes brewing.
The former Kapow! Noodle Bar on Clematis Street is now Shanghai’d, keeping Kapow! favorites but adding Szechuan, Cantonese, and New York-style Chinese classics (think moo goo gai pan and General Tso’s) plus tableside cooking. The grand reopening on Aug. 14 will feature Chinese drummers, a DJ, and a fresh new sign.
Across the street, Mayo’s Hacienda food hall — with a dozen food stalls, shops, and entertainment — is aiming to open before “season.”
Meanwhile, over on Narcissus Avenue, Southern-inspired Sassafras is out, making way for a new Indian restaurant concept from Mayo and partners.
