Plans have been submitted for a new full-service Publix grocery store in downtown West Palm Beach, which would significantly expand grocery options in the area.
Here’s what to know about the proposed project:
- Location: 600 block of Banyan Street, one block north of Clematis Street
- Size: Approximately 40,000 square feet, nearly double the size of the CityPlace Publix
- Building: Two-story, 51-foot-tall urban-style grocery store
- Second Floor: Main grocery store with produce, bakery, deli island, and pharmacy
- First Floor: Liquor store, 77 covered parking spaces, and two small retail spaces
- Additional Parking: 102 surface parking spaces planned on the west side of the block
- Land Deal: Project requires city approval to sell 0.8 acres of public land to Publix
- Timeline: If approved, construction could be completed by Summer 2028
The new store would replace an entire downtown block and bring a larger grocery option closer to Clematis Street and the city’s growing residential population.
