After more than a year of discussion, the Town Council of Palm Beach has officially approved a revised redevelopment plan for Palm Beach’s historic Paramount Theatre building at 139 N. County Road.
Originally built as a 1927 movie palace, the landmark has since served as a theater, church, and office/retail space. The property was purchased in 2021 by WEG Paramount LLC (Lester and Trent Woerner), and the new plan is a scaled-back version designed to address concerns (including traffic concerns) from council members and neighbors.
What’s Included in the Updated Plan
The proposal includes:
- A private club with 175 members
- Adds a public café
- Includes 5,400+ sq. ft. of retail space
- Limits operating hours
- Keeps the building’s 200-seat event/church-style space
- Plans the upper floors as a single-family residence
In short, the Paramount redevelopment is now designed to feel more balanced—a mix of private use, public access, and preservation. It’s a step forward for a property that’s spent years in planning limbo.
