Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced its 2026/2027 season, continuing its reputation for bold storytelling, world premieres, and acclaimed classics that challenge, move, and inspire. The new lineup features two world premieres, a Tony Award–winning musical, a landmark absurdist drama, a sharp historical comedy, and a special limited engagement from a celebrated theatrical artist.

WORLD PREMIERE: ALBA

Inspired by La Casa de Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca, Alba follows a strong-willed Cuban matriarch determined to maintain control of her household amid mounting pressures. Set in working-class Miami and narrated by her grandchild, the play explores family secrets, generational tension, and the forces, like modernization, debt, and desire, that push a household toward tragedy. Alba was first presented at Palm Beach Dramaworks as part of the 2025 Perlberg Festival of New Plays.
SPECIAL LIMITED ENGAGEMENT: HERSHEY FELDER — THE PIANO & ME
October 30 – November 22, 2026
Internationally renowned theatrical artist Hershey Felder returns to Palm Beach with his most personal work to date. The Piano & Me blends storytelling and live music as Felder reflects on more than 30 years onstage, portraying himself and the influential figures who shaped his life and career. Featuring music by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and more, this intimate production celebrates the joy, heartbreak, and obsession that define a life devoted to music.
WORLD PREMIERE: PROVENANCE*

Tracing the extraordinary journey of a single portrait, Provenance explores how art carries memory, trauma, and meaning across generations. From early 1900s Germany through Nazi theft and global displacement, the play examines how one work of art can leave an indelible emotional mark on those who encounter it. Provenance was first seen at Palm Beach Dramaworks during the 2026 Perlberg Festival of New Plays.
THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA

Winner of multiple Tony Awards, this luminous musical tells the story of Margaret Johnson and her daughter Clara during a life-changing trip to Italy in 1953. When Clara falls in love, Margaret must confront long-buried truths about her marriage and her daughter’s independence. With a soaring score and emotionally rich storytelling, The Light in the Piazzais a moving meditation on love, protection, and letting go.
THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

Pinter’s classic “comedy of menace” unfolds in a shabby seaside boarding house where an innocent birthday celebration turns ominous. When two mysterious strangers arrive, their cryptic behavior plunges the evening into psychological terror. Darkly funny, unsettling, and linguistically precise, The Birthday Party remains one of Pinter’s most haunting and thought-provoking works.
BEN BUTLER

Set in 1861, this fast-paced historical comedy centers on Union General Benjamin Butler, whose moral convictions are tested when three escaped slaves seek refuge at Fort Monroe. Faced with a choice between obeying the law or following his conscience, Butler’s decision carries consequences that could alter history. Smart, funny, and provocative, Ben Butlerblends history with sharp wit and ethical inquiry.
