Palm Beach Zoo Debuts New Koala Habitat and Rare Baby Joey

There’s a new reason to visit the Palm Beach Zoo.

The Palm Beach Zoo recently opened a renovated koala habitat and introduced a rare new arrival, a baby koala (joey) born just a few months ago. Koala births are uncommon in zoos, making this a special moment for both the zoo and visitors.

The joey’s parents, Sydney from the Tampa Zoo and Ellin from the Columbus Zoo, are settling into their updated space with the new arrival. The new habitat offers a closer look at the animals as they rest, climb, and snack on eucalyptus. Koalas are known for sleeping up to 18 to 20 hours a day, so it’s a calm and cool stop during a zoo visit.

Zoo staff say experiences like this help connect visitors to wildlife and support conservation efforts.

If you’re heading to the zoo, keep an eye out. The joey may be small, but it’s one of the cutest new additions in West Palm Beach.
