Dixie Highway 2026 Upgrades: What You Need to Know

Dixie Rd

Heads up, West Palm Beach! A stretch of Dixie Highway between Belvedere Road and Okeechobee Boulevard is getting a major facelift starting in spring 2026 (we will remind you when it gets closer…). The year-long, $3.9 million project by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will include repaving the road, upgrading traffic lights, adding a flashing school zone sign for The Greene School, and installing a new traffic light near Flamingo Park.

Good news: shops and businesses along the route will stay open, and lane closures will happen only during off-peak hours (exact times to be announced). FDOT plans to finish the upgrades by spring 2027.

The reason why we are telling you this now? Well, FDOT is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, January 9th at 6 pm. Join virtually or in person at the Norton Museum of Art’s Korman Room (1450 S. Dixie Highway). If you’re attending online, don’t forget to register here.

These improvements aim to make Dixie Highway safer and more efficient for everyone. For more details, visit the FDOT project page. Patience during construction will be worth it!
