Art Palm Beach Is Letting One Million Houseflies Make Art — Yes, Really

Art Palm Beach is no stranger to bold ideas, but this one may be its most talked-about yet. During the fair’s return January 28–February 1, 2026, artist John Knuth will debut works created in collaboration with one million houseflies—a live, evolving process that turns the smallest creatures in the room into the artists themselves.

Presented by Hollis Taggart Gallery, Renewed Resilience uses flies fed a mix of acrylic pigment and sugar water. Their tiny movements leave behind luminous, pointillist marks that build into glowing abstractions—so interesting they’ve even inspired the fair’s buzzworthy “one million flies” visual identity.

But the flies are just one highlight.
