Could I-95 Expansion Be Coming to West Palm Beach & Palm Beach County?

Big news for Palm Beach County drivers! The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is eyeing an expansion of I-95 from Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach down to Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach. With traffic expected to increase in the next 25 years, FDOT wants to add a new lane and create express lanes to help ease congestion.

The goal? To make your daily drive smoother, as the focus is on relieving traffic, improving safety, and managing congestion. This could even mean that current HOV lanes become express lanes for faster commutes.

The project is still in the early planning stages, and FDOT is gathering feedback from locals. So, don’t be surprised if there are no changes or if the expansion moves forward. The study should wrap up by summer 2026, but it could take at least 10 years to complete the actual expansion project.

Currently, Boca Raton is the only part of I-95 with express lanes, and it’s been a game-changer for traffic there. If this expansion moves forward, expect similar improvements for the rest of the county.

Stay tuned for updates and get ready for smoother rides in the future!
